Voice Over IP Telephony

What is IP Telephony?

Voice Over IP TelephonyIP Telephony, also known as Voice-over-IP, represents a new method of providing telephone service. Historically, telephone systems have used dedicated equipment to provide only voice networks. Rather than using dedicated equipment, IP Telephony will use much of the same infrastructure as a data network. It will achieve this by converting sound into small packets of data and transporting them via the regular Internet protocol (TCP/IP) between telephone sets.

In layman's terms this is a telephone system which speaks the same language as your computer, enabling both to be integrated very easily. Many submissions usually made through long and tedious programming via pressing buttons on your telephone keypad can be resolved to simply cut and paste windows applications.

This has many benefits such as:

LOWERS TOTAL COST OF OWNERSHIP
  • Addresses all of your voice and data needs with a single wiring system
  • Making it quick and easy to install and you can move your phone wherever you like
  • Theirs no need for expensive technical resources when moving a set
SIMPLIFIED MANAGEMENT
  • You can change system settings, manage the built-in directory or modify extension user profiles through familiar, easy to use browser based tools
Being a progressive part of the telecommunications industry we feel the future holds that all voice and data traffic will run through a unified network.
